| On the set of Los Abrazos rotos Posted on July 14, 2008 New Almodóvar movie to boost Lanzarote tourism Posted on July 9, 2008 The small Canary Island of Lanzarote is hoping to welcome flocks of new tourist visitors next year thanks to the release of a new Pedro Almodóvar movie in early 2009.
Broken Embraces stars Penelope Cruz and was filmed on location across Lanzarote.
It tells the story of a couple - played by Cruz and Lluis Homar - who flee to the island from Madrid. And then become embroiled in a car crash in which Homar’s character loses his sight.
Scenes for the film were shot at some of Lanzarote’s most picturesque locations, providing a ready made promotional vehicle for Lanzarote’s tourist industry.
Locations include the Green Lagoon at El Golfo, the beach at Famara and the Timanfaya Volcano Park.
Lanzarote has provided the backdrop for a number of previous big screen productions.
The island’s unique volcanic scenery has proved popular with directors of sci-fi movies such as the classic One Million Years BC, which memorably starred Raquel Welch in a fake-fur bikini.
Lanzarote is already a very popular holiday destination - attracting over one million British and Irish tourists during 2007.
Tourist authorities are hoping the release of Almodóvar’s new film will help to attract more upmarket tourism to the island as they try to re-brand Lanzarote as a quality holiday destination.
Certainly, the Spanish director himself is a major fan – having visited the island on numerous occasions over the last decade.

| Vicky Cristina Barcelona poster and new trailer Posted on June 18, 2008 Salma and Penelope: we didn’t hang with narcos Posted on June 13, 2008 So they have denied the rumours that was spreading around the internet and it’s wierd how untrue stories can get to be such a big thing!
Salma Hayek and Penelope Cruz have been forced into damage control mode after a protected witness told Mexican officials the pair stayed at a swank hacienda - that happened to be owned by a top Mexican drug traffickers - while filming the 2004 flick Bandidas.
The witness said the movie stars were guests of Sergio Villarreal, “El Grande,” who is linked to the powerful Beltran Leyva organization.

| Rumour about Salma and Pe Posted on June 12, 2008 There has been so many posts about this subject on the internet so I decided to post some of it here, I’m not sure what to believe but I’m sure we will know in the future!
Bandits stars stayed at drug trafficker’s ranch
Call it method acting of a kind or a form of research. While shooting the movie Bandidas in northern Mexico four years ago, Penélope Cruz and Salma Hayek played outlaws by day before the cameras, and then allegedly slept at a ranch owned, appropriately enough, by a drug trafficker.
There is no suggestion the actors knew who the ranch owner was when they stayed for several nights, at the house beside a reservoir in the state of Durango. But it turns out the property belonged to Sergio Bernal, a man wanted on suspicion of drug trafficking and known locally as El Grande, or the Big One. Mexican paparazzi who covered the actors’ stay in Durango during the eight-week shoot say their security was unusually tight.

| Woody Allen denies sex scene rumours Posted on June 9, 2008 Woody Allen has dismissed reports that there are “steamy” sex scenes in his new movie.
Rumours have been rife that Penelope Cruz and Scarlett Johansson have filmed a lesbian clinch, as well as a threesome with co-star Javier Bardem.
Allen admitted that characters in Vicky Christina Barcelona do get intimate, but insisted that it is “not in the sense [the press] are suggesting”.
He told Empire: “There’s no truth comparable to anything you’ve read. There’s the barest smidgeon of sex in it.
“There are sex scenes between all the characters in the movie: between the men and the women, and the women and the women. That is accurate, but I’d say there’s probably not even 20 seconds of sex in the whole picture.”
The 72-year-old also revealed in the interview that several A-list actors have turned down the chance to work with him.
