In this film Pe, as her friends call her, plays Raimunda, a crass and passionate woman from La Mancha who is forced to face ghosts from her past and a hostile Madrid. A typically Spanish salt-of-the-earth character, in which many see a reflection of Sofia Loren. Cruz’s character in “Volver” is not without her touch of flamenco. In one of the main scenes in the film Raimunda sings a flamenco cover of Gardel’s tango “Volver“.

Pen?? ??lope puts a face to the voice of Estrella Morente. The singer from Granada features in the films sound track with the track that is included in her album “Mujeres”.
