Woody Allen will start filming is yet untitled film on July 9, the day before my very own birthday. The first day of shooting will be in the Spanish city of Barcelona.

Joining Johansson will be English actress Rebecca Hall as well as Spanish stars Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem.

Some scenes will be directed in the northern Spanish region of Asturias, where Allen spent Tuesday in the regional capital Oviedo seeking out sites to film in through to late August.

“The region of Asturias is magnificent. I always wanted to come to Spain to work and now I have the chance,” Spanish news media quoted Allen as saying.

The 71-year-old Academy Award-winning director is widely admired in Spain, and Oviedo itself boasts a lifesize bronze statue of him.

Allen first visited the city to accept the Asturias prize for art in 2002.
