The first movie stills has been released for Elegy and I’m looking forward to this movie a lot! Ben Kingsley is a great actor and the splot of the film seems very interesting.

Penelope Cruz joined the ageism debate Sunday when she told a crowded Berlin press conference that she wasn’t afraid of growing old. “I’m looking forward to it,” she said following the press screening of her heavy competition title, “Elegy.” “Coming back and using that experience in my work, is the only way I look at it.”

Despite putting in a stellar performance in the English-language drama, her looks, the loss of them, power of them, or price of them, even, proved to be the most popular topic at the conference.

The subject proved a sensitive one for the down-to-earth star and L’Oreal model whose face is plastered all over Berlinale HQ Potsdamer Platz in festival sponsor L’ Oreal advertisements.

“I don’t engage in that debate because I’m allergic to it,” said Cruz after a journalist began reading a quote, or mis-quote, which suggested that Cruz wasn’t considered a serious actress because of her looks.

So are things getting back to normal? I just bought a dedicated server and the sites will get moved this weekend I was told by my host so a little downtime while the sites are being moved and then it should be more stable then ever. The Weinstein Company has acquired North American distribution rights to Woody Allen’s Vicky Cristina Barcelona starring Javier Bardem, Patricia Clarkson, Penelope Cruz, Kevin Dunn, Rebecca Hall, Scarlett Johansson and Chris Messina. Written and directed by Woody Allen, the feature was produced by longtime Allen collaborators’ Letty Aronson, Stephen Tenenbaum, and Gareth Wiley as well as Jaume Roures. The announcement was made today by Harvey Weinstein, a co-chairman of The Weinstein Company.

Just as New York City was the backdrop in Woody Allen’s Manhattan, the stunning city of Barcelona is the setting for the romantic adventures of Vicky and Cristina. These two young Americans spend a summer in Spain and meet a flamboyant artist (Bardem) and his beautiful but insane ex-wife (Cruz). Vicky (Hall) is straight-laced and about to be married. Cristina (Johansson) is a sexually adventurous free spirit. When they all become amorously entangled, the results are both hilarious and harrowing.

Harvey Weinstein stated, “‘Vicky Cristina Barcelona‘ is a funny, sexy and smart film, where once again, Woody is at the top of his game. Through the years, my brother and I have formed an incredible relationship with Woody and Letty and we are so pleased to be working on our sixth film together.”

Woody Allen stated, “This is now my sixth project with the Weinsteins and I value the relationship we have created through the years. They have always done a wonderful job with my movies and are supportive in every way. ‘Vicky Cristina Barcelona‘ is a film I am very proud of and the Weinstein distributing touch will be a huge asset to it’s release.”

The film is currently in post-production and will be released in 2008.
